Health

For children to live and thrive with the best care, nutrition and environment.

Sub-themes

Maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health

Coordinated continuum of health services provided to children as and when required. These may range from newborn care, disease prevention and treatment, management of common neonatal and childhood illnesses, maternal and childhood immunization.

Water and sanitation

Clean water, basic toilets and good hygiene practices are perquisites for good health. Limited access to clean water and improved sanitation predisposes children to water-borne illnesses and is a leading cause of childhood morbidity, mortality and undernutrition.

Nutrition

Balanced nutrition provides the basis for lifelong health, learning ability, economic and social performance. Optimal nutrition encompasses appropriate food intake (both quality and quantity) including breastfeeding, infant and young child feeding as well as good health and care practices.
